We celebrated her actual birthday yesterday. I took her to a big park in town and she played forever on the playground. She LOVES the slides!! I also packed a picnik lunch that we ate at the park. When Jay got home we went out for dinner at Chik-Fil-A. It is her most favorite place in the world to eat so that is where we went. She ate her favorite chicken nuggets and played on the indoor playground. We then had an improptu gathering of neighborhood friends who played together out in the front yard for a while and then came in and had some cookie cake with her. Overall, she had a wonderful day and had tons of fun running around screaming with her neighborhood pals.
We also recently went to our new OB here in Katy. As I had hoped she ordered an ultrasound that day and we found out that we are having a baby GIRL! Jay will be outnumbered by women for life! I was shocked as I was certain that it was a boy and I think Jay secretly hoped for a boy. Jay's first comments were, "We don't have to buy any clothes... she can wear all of Emma's", and then "I am going to have 2 weddings to pay for!" We are both very excited though and most of all happy that she is healthy and is doing well inside my belly! I am happy that Emma will have a sister (I always wanted one) and hopefully they can grow up to be the best of friends!
Emma had her 2 year well check up today with a couple new immunizations. It was her first time at the new pediatrician's office, who we really like. Emma just knows something is going to happen though when we are in a doctor's office. When the nurse left the room she asked for Emma to strip down to her diaper for the doctor. Emma screamed the entire time we waited for the doctor because she wanted her clothes back on. Then she screamed while the doctor looked in her ears and felt her tummy (all things that didn't hurt). She worked herself into such a tizzy that she proceeded to puke all over me! The poor doctor had to help me clean it up - I felt so bad. I am sure it isn't the first time she has seen this happen, but when it is your child you feel so bad! Anyway, she got her updated shots and won't need more until she is 4 -thank goodness!! Even the flu shot she can now get in a nasal mist. She is a healthy little girl and can now start drinking the same skim milk that mom and dad drink - no more whole milk! YAY!
Lastly (I think), we have officially started Emma in her big girl toddler bed. Today is day 1! Her furniture and crib will be passed down to baby #2 and we are going to buy her new furniture. So, we would like for her to be in a twin big girl bed by the time baby 2 arrives. I removed the front of her crib this morning and naptime was her first experience. I have been sitting upstairs outside her door just waiting for her to keep trying to get out of the bed and mess around. She hasn't tried even once and she is fast asleep!!!! I know I just jinxed the whole process, and I am sure nighttime will be different, but so far we are off to a good start.
Enjoy the tons of pictures that I posted below!
PS Jay and I can't wait for our new niece or nephew to be born any day!!! We can't wait to find out if Emma will have a boy or girl cousin and what the name will be. C-section is scheduled for Monday so we only have a max of 4 more days to find out.
