Halloween 2013

We have been staying busy since my last post.  Emma seems to be busy all the time with school activities and after school homework and projects.  She has also started running sometimes with Jay and absolutely LOVES it!  He signed her up for a 1 mile fun run a few weeks ago and they even trained together for it.  She could run over 3/4 of a mile prior to the race and was beyond excited to run like daddy does in a race.  She had so much fun, but was very disappointed when the one mile fun run turned out to be more like 1/4 of a mile.  She wanted to know why it was so short!!  Hopefully it is something she continues to enjoy!

We have had a fun fall and have been LOVING the cooler weather that seemed like was never going to come!!  We took a trip to a local "pumpkin patch" that had fun activities for the kids including big slides, hayride, corn maze and pumpkin patch.  We also carved pumpkins and decorated cookies with friends.

Anna also managed to get sick again recently.  Our first clue something was wrong was when she actually fell asleep on the couch with Jay.  This girl NEVER naps!!  She also seems to have a knack for picking up every virus possible.  She has since kicked the bug, thank goodness.

Girls had a great time trick or treating - especially since we weren't sure it would even happen.  In true Southeast Texas fashion we had a monsoon hit and had major road flooding during the day.  Anna's preschool was closed and I even brought Emma home from school early because I was so nervous about the flooded roads.  Stalled cars were everywhere and lots of white knuckle driving saying a little prayer that I didn't get stuck in the high water.  Even our cul-de-sac had super high water, but it drained amazingly fast throughout the day.  The roads dried up and it turned out to be a beautiful night to trick or treat.  The girls had a great day at home as Nana and Papa were visiting from Michigan.  They can attest to the horrible flooding, despite it being gone hours later.  Jay thought I was off my rocker:)

Jay and I got away to a Texans game while Nana and Papa were here to babysit!

 

Anna has finally finished all of her reflux testing!  As you may recall, she had to be sedated for an endoscopy and then they placed a small catheter into her esophagus to measure the acidity of her reflux for a day.  It took her all of about 5 minutes in the recovery room to dislodge the catheter from her throat into her mouth by using her tongue and they had to come back and re-place it!  I thought for sure that it wouldn't last, but in true Anna fashion she surprised us all and kept it in the entire day and night!  All results were normal, which means that the reflux she does have isn't causing any damage to her esophagus.  For now we continue to take the prevacid to reduce the acid.  This is the only medicine she takes - YAY for that!!  Doctor hinted he might take her off in January, but we will wait and see.  I am just ecstatic that for right now we don't have another appt until January (knock on wood).  I have been traveling back and forth to Houston with her a million times!  Below is a picture of her with the catheter smothered in tape to her face.  She is normal, happy Anna and you wouldn't even know she has a tube stuck up her nose!
