Happy Fathers Day

Not much has happened here since our last post. We rounded out a great vacation with Darian and Kennedy and they got home safe and sound. Jay and I have been doing the last minute things like laundry and packing to try and get ready for our vacation home this week. We leave for Michigan on Thursday and don't come back until the 4th of July!! We are so excited to spend the week up north camping, which should be very relaxing. Nothing better in the world than to be on Mullett Lake, boating, and having some fun in the sun. (I must admit it will be nice to get out of this hot weather. It has been high 90's and HOT for about 2 weeks now.)

We had a nice, relaxing Fathers Day. We went for our walk this morning and grilled steak for dinner. Emma continues to make us laugh every day. She still isn't walking - it will happen one day. She has officially moved into the next size up car seat. We love how we can actually see her when we look in the back seat since it isn't rear facing. She is very smart and when she sees mommy brushing her hair she will then take the brush and try to brush her own hair. She also tries to put her own shoes on. Believe me, she doesn't even come close to succeeding but she knows that the shoe somehow goes on the foot. She even tries to put Jay's big size 11 shoe on her foot which is hilarious. Yesterday while we were out to dinner the waitress gave Emma a little kid menu with crayons. I thought to myself "Geez lady,a little premature on the crayons are we?" But I didn't say anything and I took the crayon out of its package and handed it to Emma. I was really expecting her to try and eat it but after showing her what to do with it she managed to scribble a little on her menu!! What a genius our child it! Enjoy the pics and my next post will be with all of our vacation pics!

Emma's Visit With Her Cousins

We have been extremely busy this past week. We went to Houston this past weekend on Saturday to celebrate our friend Grace's third birthday. We spent the night in Houston with friends and then picked up our nieces at the airport Sunday morning. Darian and Kennedy are 13 and 11 and flew to visit us all by themselves!! We were so excited that they were brave enough to take the journey alone - this was their first flight to do so.

Sunday Darian, Kennedy, and I went to the pool while Emma took her afternoon nap. Then we grilled out chicken for dinner and watched a movie - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. We all agreed not to waste your precious time on this boring flick. I worked on Monday and the girls babysat Emma and did a great job!! They were in seventh heaven babysitting Emma and took great care of her. Tuesday Darian, Kennedy, Emma and I went to the Houston Zoo. It was absolutely miserable due to how hot it was. It was 93 degrees and EXTREMELY humid outside. We kind of hurried through the zoo and took a few rest breaks. We were all excited to get back into the air conditioned car. The power was out earlier in the day so all of the ice cream machines and Dippin Dots were closed! What a bummer!! We did have a good time despite the miserable weather. We watched another movie that night - He's Just Not That Into You. It was a good one.

Today we went to the pool - and took Emma. She had a great time. She wasn't in love with her floatie that we took for her. I am not sure why - maybe because only her legs could get wet and she wanted to be all the way into the water. She was a bit cranky too because she is officially teething again! Her left front top tooth has popped through and you can tell that the right one is on its way too - anytime. Finally she has some chompers to eat some food!

The girls have really been practicing walking with Emma. She walks all over the house with her car walker, but is still too scared to let go. They have gotten her to stand all by herself without holding onto anything for about 5 - 10 seconds and then Emma just slowly sits to the ground as if she is bored. One of these days she will take that step. I guess I can't expect teeth and walking all in the same day! Will update you on the rest of the week later, but I have included tons of pictures from the week.
